Stopping the spread of dangerous soot that contains polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the fire station's Decon Room is a must.
It is important to reduce exposures and prevent contamination of carcinogens and other harmful agents. Best practices recommends to divide the fire station in to three hazard zones to reduce exposure to cancer-causing chemicals at the fire station:
